How to Determine the Qiblah Direction for Prayer

al-’Imam ash-Shafiʿiyy said in his book, Al-’Umm: “It is conceivable that Allah, the Exalted, ordered them with facing the direction of al-Qiblah by seeking its signs. He did not leave them to determine the direction by means which please them, cross their hearts, or delude them. Allah decreed not to leave them helpless without showing them the signs”. This means that Allah showed His slaves the acknowledge signs for seeking the direction of al-Qiblah. Hence, no attention is due to that which does not rely on religious proof.

How to Perform the Five Obligatory Prayers

The Two Testifications Shahadahs

Professing the Two Shahadahs: In regards to the blasphemer who wants to embrace Islam, the belief is not accepted without one uttering the Two Testifications (Shahadahs). In addition, the Muslim is obligated to recite the Two Testifications (Shahadahs) in every prayer for validity of that prayer. The Two Testifications are: I testify that no one is God except Allâh and I testify that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allâh.

It is obligatory to believe in all the Celestial Books (revealed books) that God revealed to some Prophets ; all the revealed books call to follow the religion of Islam which is the only true religion. The only book that was not falsified is the Qur’ân which is in the Arabic language. It is not permissible to translate the Qur’ân literally, word by word. However, we translate the meaning of the verses according to the interpretations of true Islamic scholars.
