Importance of acquiring Islamic Knowledge by Oral Transmission
The high status of knowledge has been clearly established in Islam through explicit texts in the Qur’an and the Hadith as well as in the writings of the scholars of Islam. Allâh said in Surat Al-Mujadalah, Ayah 11 which means: « Allâh raises the ranks of those among you who believe and those who were granted the knowledge. » Also, Allâh said in Surat Az-Zumar, Ayah 9 which means: « Those who know are not the same as those who do not know. » In the hadith related by Al-Bayhaqiyy, the Messenger of Allâh Muḥammad Sallâ lLâhou ʿalayhi wa sallam said which means: « Seeking the knowledge of the Religion is obligatory on every Muslim. »

Sins of the Tongue in Islam

Although the tongue is a tiny organ, the person who uses it to comply with the orders of Allâh, the teachings of the Qur’ân, and the teachings of the Prophet may earn blessings in this world and the in Hereafter. However, the one who uses his tongue in disobedience to Allâh would not be displaying thankfulness to Allâh and would be heading towards his own destruction. Certainly, being thankful to Allâh means not to use the endowments bestowed by Allâh in what is forbidden. One needs to know the sins of the tongue could be small or enormous.

The great Imam AHmad Ar-Rifâʿiyy, may Allâh raise his rank, advised one of his students and said: O my son, if you possess real intellect you would never turn towards this Life even if it turns towards you, because it is deceitful, a liar and misleads its followers. The one who turns away from it is saved from it and the one who turns towards it is inflicted with what it has. It is like a serpent, soft when touched but deadly is its poison. Its pleasure vanishes fast and its days pass like a shadow. Keep yourself busy by fearing Allâh and do not ignore remembering Allâh, the Exalted.
